What the beauty industry reads before it decides
A newsroom covering the business of beauty — the deals, the channels and the strategy behind a $696B market.
More than 10,000 executives, investors, retailers and brand leaders read Gram Culture. They come for one thing: what actually happened this week in the business of beauty, and what it means for the decision in front of them. No press releases rewritten as news, no launch calendars, no copy that could have been published by the company it covers.
We report the way a good financial desk reports: from primary sources, company filings and our own data, and with nothing to sell the people we write about. Our editors have worked inside beauty houses, distributors and investment banks, which is mostly useful for knowing which claims to check first.
Where we report from
Beauty is one global industry made of three very local ones. Each bureau below keeps its own beat and its own sources, because a deal explained from the wrong continent is a press release with a dateline.
London
Where the houses are run
Group strategy, prestige buying, and the European retail floor
Singapore
Where demand is decided
Marketplaces, cross-border supply, and the brands scaling out of Asia
NYC
Where the capital sits
Deals, listings, and the fight for American shelf space
What we cover
Seven beats, drawn around how the industry actually operates rather than how trade media usually files it:
- Signals — market movements, consumer shifts, emerging categories, the structural forces reshaping beauty
- Houses — founder stories, product launches, positioning, the companies actually moving the industry
- Technology — BeautyTech, AI, platforms, formulation science, digital commerce infrastructure
- Channels — retail, e-commerce, marketplaces, the channels where beauty is actually sold
- Demand — campaigns, influencer, creator economy, collaborations, brand building in 2026
- Business — M&A, funding rounds, IPOs, valuations, the deals shaping the next decade
- Podcast — long-form conversations with the founders, CEOs and investors building the industry
How we work
Three rules, in order. Report first — every significant piece rests on interviews, filings or data we gathered ourselves. Say what it means — a story that stops at what happened leaves the reader to do the work we were paid for. Stay independent — no brand, retailer or investor buys coverage, and advertising never meets editorial before publication.
We write for people who already know the basics, so we skip them. If something is in a Gram Culture piece, it has been checked, argued over, and cut until only the part that changes a decision is left.
Who writes it
The masthead is managed in one place and published here; every byline on the site belongs to someone on this list.
We are building out each bureau — senior reporters, researchers and partnerships leads are welcome to write in.
